The Grounds
A big part of our dream was to have luscious grounds with lots of beautiful flowers and a fruit and vegetable garden to enable us to create the freshest, best tasting meals you can find on a vacation in the tropics. We had travelled to many nice resorts only to be disappointed by the uncomfortable beds and over-cooked buffet meals. So, we purchased enough land for a large garden, which just happened to have 17 lime trees!
- Panoramic view of the grounds
- The winter garden full of a variety of fresh vegetables
- Fresh picked carrots, radishes and tomatoes for a nice salad
- A rack of fresh bananas will be cut and hung on the porch for snacking
From our first, very small garden to our present garden, we have produced, among others, cucumbers, radishes, beets, carrots, turnips, onions, leeks, broccoli, black eyed peas, yard long green beans, lima beans, six types of mustard, nine types of lettuce, many varieties of tomatoes, a large selection of sweet and hot chili peppers, papayas, six varieties of bananas, chatas and plantains, and, of course, limes. We have been told by many locals that we lucked into the “best dirt on the island,” and we believe them!
So, whatever your dietary preferences, we are here to fulfill them! Our fresh bounty from our garden, along with the fresh-caught fish and seafood brought to our dock by local fishermen enable us to create healthy, fresh, wonderful meals to your liking!
