Frequently Asked Questions

Things You Need To Know

How do I get there?

So, how does one get to our little island Paradise? The best, easiest route is to fly into Roatan via Houston. The airline used by most is United. You will arrive at Roatan around 1:15 p.m. with plenty of time to make your hopper flight connection to Guanaja, arriving about 4:30 p.m. Your departing hopper flight leaves Guanaja about 10:30 a.m., getting you to Roatan around noon to make your international flight home. The cost for the short flight is approximately $200 per person round trip. Because the local airlines are small, and it can be difficult to reserve and pay for tickets remotely by credit card, we can add that amount to your invoice and purchase those tickets for you. All you need to check in are your passport and your ticket numbers, which we will email to you. Or you can fly into San Pedro Sula and connect with a flight that takes you through La Ceiba and on to Guanaja that afternoon. The small airline does not dovetail their connections from Guanaja/La Ceiba/San Pedro Sula, so you typically must stay a night either in La Ceiba or San Pedro Sula to make your international flight home. But depending on the time of year, that international ticket cost can be up to half the price of flying into Roatan, so if you have the time, it can be well worth it.

What payment methods do you accept?

We prefer payment by wire transfer to our US or Honduras account, however, we are able to accept payment by credit card through PayPal. There is a 3% USD fee or 3.9% international fee added to the invoice for payment via PayPal. Once on property, we operate on a cash only basis. Credit cards (PayPal) are unable to be accepted. Contact us via email: clearwaterparadiseresort@gmail.com, or telephone/WhatsApp: +011-504-9639-3096. Once you let us know your preferred method of payment, you will receive the appropriate invoice from us or from PayPal.

Are your staff members dive certified?

There are no “non-current” or non certified Dive Masters at Clearwater Paradise Resort. All of our staff involved in diving are current on their certifications.

What is included in the "all-inclusive" pricing?

Our dive/snorkel activities are included in our accommodations packages, as well as airport transfers by boat, beach towels in every room for the pool/boat, use of our kayaks, a fully stocked bar with an attendant, a restaurant with personalized menus offering 3 daily meals, daily maid service, fresh cut flowers in the restaurant and rooms daily, and pre-reserved hopper flights to get you to the island.

Do you offer dive training courses?

Yes. If you are interested in Discover Diving, we will put you in a full day course, where upon completion you will not only be familiar with some basic skills of diving, but will have had a great scuba diving experience. The cost is inclusive of training and gear for that day. If you are interested in the Open Water or Advanced certifications, as well as Specialties, we are happy to accommodate. You will purchase your classroom package before your travel date from PDIC (Professional Diving Instructors Corporation; www.pdic-intl.com) and complete all reading and workbooks. Dive Master and Instructor courses are available. We also offer refresher courses for those who haven't been diving in over a year.

Do you offer "walk-up" dives and equipment rental?

Yes, pricing is listed on our Diving page.

What should I pack?

Bring the standard gear for paradise: shorts, flip flops or sandals, lots of sunscreen, hats, sunglasses, and, of course, swimsuits. You will also need bug spray (we recommend Deep Woods Off), and lightweight long pants and long sleeved shirts and hiking shoes if you decide to take any of the hiking excursions available. You may wish to bring a hairdryer as we do not provide those.

What is the currency in Guanaja?

Once on Guanaja, you will operate on a cash-only basis. The currency used on Guanaja is the Honduran Lempira, named after the Indian chief, Lempira. The exchange rate is about L20 to $1. Most businesses on island accept cash only. There is only one bank and one ATM. When we invoice our guests we offer to add a credit toward an estimated out of pocket amount you think you might need, so the amount of cash you must travel with is reduced. Also, it is not necessary to exchange US dollars for Lempira prior to your travel. All businesses accept US dollars, and we are willing to exchange anything within reason and give the exchange rate.

Is Wi-Fi Available

Yes!

How Can I Cancel My Reservation?

Reservations cancelled 60-46 days prior to arrival date are refunded but subject to a $150/person penalty; 45-11 days prior to arrival date are non-refundable and subject to a $150/person penalty; however the balance (less the penalty) will be credited for future travel within 1 year from original confirmed arrival date, holidays excluded; and 10 or less days prior to arrival date receive no refund nor credit. There is a $35.00 handling fee for all cancellations at any time. Unused portions of land packages are not refundable for any reason including airline delays, cancellations, weather, or acts of God. We STRONGLY recommend that you purchase travel insurance through an agent of your choice.
